FAQ

Clogged gutters and downspouts can lead to all kinds of problems. The build up of debris inside your gutters can lead to warping and sagging. Water damage from overflowing gutters can lead to wood rot, eventually causing separation of your home’s fascia and soffit.

Water intrusion and accompanying damage is another potential issue that can wreak havoc on your home.

Finally, all of that overflowing water can build up in the wrong places and cause damage to your house’s foundation.

The answer depends on the amount and types of trees you have in your neighborhood. If you have lots of large trees like oaks or pine trees close to your house, then you should get your gutters cleaned at least twice a year at the minimum.

In addition, in places with frequent rainfall, like New Orleans and the rest of Southeast Louisiana,  the twice per year maintenance suggestion above also applies.

Our typical service removes all debris from the inside of your gutters. This is done to ensure proper water flow and drainage for your entire gutter system and to prevent any damage that comes from clogs.

We typically perform our cleanings using a combination of hand removal and blowing where appropriate to remove all dirt, sticks, leaves and other debris to get your system operating as it’s supposed to.

The cost of gutter cleaning depends on the size of your home and the job difficulty (dirtiness, clogs, etc.). We can give you an estimate right over the phone if we’re able to see your property on Google Maps. If not, we can schedule estimate with one of our technicians to get a look in person.

Based on our experience, the cost of residential gutter cleaning in New Orleans usually ranges anywhere from $250 to $750.

There are several telltale signs that let you know that you need to clean your gutters. Things to be on the look out for include:

  • Rainwater overflowing from the gutters. Note that this is not normal, even in a heavy rain. This means that there’s a clog somewhere in your system and water isn’t flowing/draining like it’s supposed to.
  • The gutter is sagging. This is due to the weight of debris and/or standing water weighing the clogged gutters down.
  • Standing water near your home’s foundation. Normally this shouldn’t be the case, but with clogged gutters, that water can overflow and begin to damage your home’s foundation instead of draining where it should.
  • Plants are growing in your gutters. All that accumulated dirt makes for a rich environment that plants love!
  • There are leaks in the roof/ceiling near the gutter line. When dirty gutters become clogged with dirt, leaves, and other debris, the water doesn’t drain and starts to pool, backing up onto the roof. Overtime this backup can cause damage to the roof and lead to roof leaks.

Since gutters are on the outside of your home, we typically don’t require that you be home when it comes time to perform the service. However, we do ask that we have complete access to your home’s perimeter (e.g. make sure all gates are unlocked, etc.).

Yes. We are fully insured with a $2 million aggregate insurance policy for liability, so you can rest assured that your property is safe with us!

We offer a variety of common gutter repair services, such as rehanging gutters and installing new gutter brackets. If you have a problem we can’t handle, such as gutter installation, then we are more than happy to refer you to reputable gutter contractors.

We do not install gutter screens, but we can reinstall screens that are missing or loose. Our experience has shown gutter guards to be very ineffective for the most part, so we usually recommend our customers get their gutters cleaned regularly or get to the root of the problem by having trees and other debris-depositing plants trimmed back to prevent unnecessary clogging.

Yes. We offer professional gutter and downspout cleaning commercial businesses as well as for homes.

Gutter cleaning is best done when there’s been a period of at least several days of dry weather, since dry material is much easier to remove. That being said, we can clean gutters in a light rain/mist. We absolutely do not perform any services during lighting storms.

We normally only include blowing off leaves from your roof’s valleys and from around the perimeter of the gutter. Any additional roof leaf blowing can be done for an additional cost.

Unless otherwise noted, we will typically walk on roofs unless the roof is in too poor of a condition, too steep, or made of a fragile material like slate.

Keep in mind that cleaning gutters from a ladder only will usually double or triple the time it takes to do the job. When doing work from ladders, we use ladder stabilizer bars for safety and to avoid any damage to the outside of your gutters.

Yes. Our gutter cleaning services include debris removal and unclogging of all  your home’s gutters and downspouts. Detached structures such as sheds and garages may cost extra at the time of service if not mentioned in the original estimate. Be sure to discuss all areas with us beforehand.

Striping/streaks on the outside of your home’s gutters is a common problem. While not included in a regular gutter cleaning, we can certainly remove any stripes and make your gutters bright and shiny again for an extra fee.

We typically don’t include unclogging underground drains with our normal gutter cleaning service. We can disconnect the downspouts from the drain above ground, confirm any clogs, and advise on next steps. We can even snake out underground drains up to a certain length.
